A Note About The April Meeting

Messier Marathon at Burwash

To all SAC members, guests, families, children and friends

There will be a Messier Marathon Star Party to be held at Burwash this Friday March 23 beginning at 8:00 pm. If the weather does not co-operate the Messier Marathon will be postponed to the following night Saturday March 24 at 8:00 pm.

Before going to Burwash the meeting place will be at the Tim Hortons at the South End next to East Side Mario’s and Canadian Tire at 7:00 pm. We will all depart together for Burwash for those that are not familiar with the location. Even though it has been very mild lately dress with winter apparel.

February 3rd: AGM Meeting

This month’s meeting is also the AGM meeting and will take place before the regular agenda.

Agenda is as follows:

1. “AGM Annual General Meeting”
2. “Position of the Planets in the Solar System” by Wilf Meyer.
3. “Dome Presentation of the sky” by Robert Pothier.
4. Writing a book on the “History of the Club” presented by Jorge Virchez and
Julien Dompierre.

Reminder:

Dan Madden (Treasurer) again will be bringing to the meeting this Friday the 2012
RASC Observer’s Calendar for paid members and sponsors and the 2012 Ob-
server’s Handbook . The Observer’s Handbook costs $20.00 each. Note: This Ob-
server’s Handbook includes Free PC Planetarium software. If you ordered the Hand-
book please bring your money for payment. Thank you. If the Calendars and Hand-
books are not picked up at the February meeting Dan will bring them again to the
March meeting. After March if you haven’t picked up the Calendar or Handbook you
will have to pick them up at Dan’s residence.
Reminder: The Loaner Scope is available to any member of the club.

An Evening with The Giants

On Wednesday November 30th at 7:00 pm there will be a Star Party held at the Chalet at the Laurentian Conservation Area hosted by Paul-Emile Legault. The group of guest observers in attendance will be the Laurentian Astronomy Student Class and the Nickel District Conservation Area Members. Paul-Emile will also be doing a presentation at this function as well.

There are estimates that there could be upwards of 100 guests (above) attending this Star Party so we require as many scopes as possible to make it a success.

If the weather prevents observing on Wednesday November 30th then the Star Party will be deferred to the following evening Thursday December 1st at 7:00 pm.
